Some birthday celebrations for our club president, Mr. John Martin!

John Martin Birthday Mass and Celebrations

On Friday, August 8th, we came together as a community for a joyful evening in honour of John’s birthday.

To begin, Father Tom Hogan led a memorable Mass filled with inspiring stories and meaningful messages for both young and old. In addition, the service was beautifully enhanced by the Angela Morgan Choir, whose uplifting singing kept everyone smiling and moving in their seats and in the mood for some birthday fun.

Afterwards, the birthday celebrations continued as John was presented with a special gift from the club — a framed collage showcasing many of his treasured Man O’War memories. Following this, our chairperson, Caroline Cutliffe, shared heartfelt words of appreciation. Furthermore, Pat Rooney offered a wonderful reflection on John’s time mentoring youth football teams during the 1960s and 1970s (read our club history for more).

The evening then moved seamlessly into a social gathering with refreshments. As a final highlight, a large birthday cake was presented to John, much to the delight of everyone in attendance.

Overall, the event was a tremendous success, not only highlighting how deeply loved John is, but also emphasising the positive influence he has had on countless lives and the strong community spirit within our club.

Finally, a huge thanks goes to everyone who volunteered their time to arrange and host such a wonderful evening of Mass and birthday celebrations. Above all, the night was a shining example of the incredible club spirit we share.
