A GAA Referee Coordinator’s role is to oversee the recruitment, training, and management of referees within a specific region or countyThey ensure fair play by organizing and supporting referees to officiate games according to GAA rules and regulations. 

 
Key Responsibilities of a GAA Referee Coordinator:
  • Recruitment and Training:
    • Organizing and delivering referee training courses, including foundation level and ongoing development. 
       
    • Inviting and encouraging new referees to participate in training programs. 
       
    • Providing mentorship and support to new referees. 
       
  • Scheduling and Assignment:
    • Assigning referees to games based on their qualifications and experience. 
       
    • Managing referee availability and ensuring adequate coverage for all games. 
       
  • Support and Development:
    • Providing ongoing support and guidance to referees. 
       
    • Monitoring referee performance and providing feedback. 
       
    • Organizing refresher courses and workshops to enhance referee skills and knowledge. 
       
  • Promoting Fair Play:
    • Ensuring referees understand and apply the rules of the game consistently. 
       
    • Fostering a positive and respectful environment for referees and players. 
       
  • Communication and Liaison:
    • Communicating with clubs, coaches, and other stakeholders regarding referee-related matters. 
       
    • Representing referees at relevant meetings and events.
